Prior to receiving a medical marijuana treatment recommendation, it is required that you visit a physician, who will evaluate you. Our physicians at Biofit are certified by the state of Florida and trained to make same day approvals. All you have to do is check in at our clinic and we will help you apply for your Medical Marijuana Card.

Scientific studies show promising results that medical cannabis can help treat a variety of ailments and illnesses or at least alleviate the severity of symptoms.

Medical Marijuana Card Frequently Asked Questions

The State of Florida requires that patients conduct a face to face evaluation with a certified Medical Marijuana Doctor in order to apply for their cannabis card. The patient will speak with the Doctor about their qualifying condition. During the evaluation, the Doctor will determine which of the conditions that the State of Florida listed as a qualifying condition apply to the patient. The qualifying condition and medical marijuana medication order is then sent to the State of Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry. Once the state receives notification of the evaluation along with the qualifying condition and orders, the State emails the patient with a username and password granting the patient entrance to the medical marijuana use registry.

MMU stands for Medical Marijuana Use Registry. It is the patient portal that the State of Florida grants the patient access to pay the State of Florida for their card. The patients receive access to their portal only after the medical marijuana card evaluation was completed, and a proof of Florida residency is uploaded to the page. Patients simply take a photo of their Florida’s drivers license and upload it as a proof of residency to the page. Then they are allowed access on their mmu page to pay for the card.

Once you pay the state the $75 fee for the card (plus online $2.75 credit card processing fee), then the patient waits ten business days to receive their approval via email. The patient receives an acceptance email into the program and that email serves the same function as an electronic card granting them access to any dispensary of their choice in the State of Florida. The patient can shop with the approval email as their Patient I.D. number is listed in the email. Usually most patients have purchased their medical marijuana relief products long before the physical card arrives in the mail via US post office. The physical card then arrives in a white envelope labeled by the Department of Health to the address provided by the patients Florida Drivers License.

There are two separate fees for the patient. The first fee goes to the doctor’s office for the physical consultation. Click here for our Initial Consultation fee. When the evaluation is complete, the patient then pays the Department of Health from their patient portal $75 (plus $2.75 credit card processing fee) online to the State.

The State of Florida requires patients to renew their Doctors visit every 7 months. Click here for our renewal fee. Separately, the card expires yearly with the State. The expiration date is printed on the card. The patient pays $75 online to Florida once a year to keep their card active and receive a new card in the mail.

You must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Any minor wishing to apply must provide an additional doctors note from their pediatrician. The note must state their medical need to apply for the program along with medical records to supplement their charts for their qualifying condition.

No. A medical marijuana doctor’s office only provides the evaluation you need in order for you to go to a dispensary. A dispensary sells marijuana products and there are no doctors present at dispensaries. You can only purchase THC cannabis products at a dispensary, not speak with a medical marijuana doctor. You can only shop at dispensaries after being evaluated by a medical marijuana doctor and after receiving your patient ID number or medical marijuana card in the mail.
